There has been a new set of Greece travel restrictions for passengers traveling to the country for tour related activities.
Greece Travel Restrictions For Travelers Visiting For Tourism
Not long the world got stuck by the Covid pandemic slowing activities and travels for all purposes. Greece is one of the most visited countries in Europe for the tourist destination and attraction it has provided to millions of visitors.
The religious tourism and pilgrimages, the ecotourism, the conference tourism, and the medical tourism are prominent, and initiatives are being made to promote the seasonal tourism as well. Due to the restrictions during the pandemic, all these tour attractions were suspended.
In order to strengthen the tourism sector by allowing travelers access to the country, a new travel restrictions has been implemented. In a recent publication from the Ministry of Tourism Greece there are some travel restrictions which are to be taken note of before traveling to the country for tourism or vacation.
Effective March 15th 2022 onward, travelers visiting Greece are no longer required to fill out the Passenger Locator Form (PLF). The passenger locator form which was formally used to obtain information about incoming passengers prior to entering the country has been withdrawn. Additionally, as of Sunday May 1st, 2022 and for as long as the epidemiological data allow so, all travelers arriving in Greece, regardless of their country of origin, are no longer required to display a valid certificate of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19 or evidence of a negative test result from SARS-CoV-2 infection (PCR or Rapid Antigen test).
In place of the changes, there has been a simplified Passenger Locator Form which remains in operation with an optional completion for travelers, for enabling the traveler and his or her family to issue an EU Certificate of negative or positive COVID-19 test result.
Travelers, who decide to fill out the simplified form, will receive the PLF with their unique Quick Response (QR) code via email (the QR code will be provided in a link in the email). The PLF can also be found on the Visit Greece app and the official website. It is strongly recommended that all visitors download the Visit Greece app (GDPR compliant) for free, prior to their arrival in Greece.
Passengers are strongly recommended to adhere to these latest Greece travel restrictions to ensure a smooth travel to the country for tourism. Compliance with the health protocols during transport and throughout your entire stay in Greece is the key factor that will ensure the safety of both the citizens and the tourist.
