The Korea embassy in Accra Ghana is in charge of issuing visas to applicants and travelers wanting to travel to the country in Asia. Korea Republic is an Asian country which has been the destination to most businessmen for their business activities.  

How can I get South Korea visa from Ghana?

Can I travel from Ghana to South Korea now? As many are asking, the Republic of Korea has opened its borders to welcome applicants and travelers wishing to travel to the country for tourism, sports, business, conference and all other purpose of entry.

Application for Korea visa is done by the embassy in Accra who also serves as the issuing body and consular to other countries in the West African sub-region.

Ghanaian passport holders need to acquire a visa for the entry purpose of both short and long term visit. Visa processing requires a minimum of 10 working days or more depending upon the situation of the submitted documents. Therefore, you should apply for a visa early enough to avoid delays due to late acquisition of visa.

What documents are required for Korean visa?

Generally the documents required to apply for Korea visa are the following which can be downloaded from the official website of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea;

  • visa application form
  • Visa application form for those in possession of Visa issuance confirmation
  • Written Consent​​
  • Invitation Letter
  • Health Condition Report Form​
  • Consent of Quarantine

Other supporting documents that are needed in the application depending on the purpose of traveling are the documents below;

Tourism visa application checklist

  1. PASSPORT, valid at least six (6) months
  2. PREVIOUS PASSPORT, if applicable
  3. ONE PASSPORT-TYPE COLOR PHOTO (3.5cm x 4.5cm) with white background, taken within recent 6 months.
  4. WRITTEN CONSENT, a form made out from the Embassy
  5. NOTARIZED INVITATION LETTER from Korea stating that the inviter will take responsibility for any criminal activities committed by the invitee while in Korea and that the inviter will ensure the invitee returns to his/ her country before the expiry of the visa (including a copy of inviter’s ID card and contact number)
  6. If an applicant does not have an inviter from Korea, please go to No.5.
  7. INTRODUCTION LETTER (if applicable) from employer in Ghana stating job title (designation), salary and purpose of trip. The employer (company) must fully be responsible to guarantee the return of the applicant to his/her country and be liable for applicant’s offence(s) against the law of the Republic of Korea (include contact number and ID card of employer)
  8. PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT STATEMENT (should be for a period of three (3) months / should be issued within three (3) days) proving the applicant’s financial ability to support yourself for a stay.
  9. DETAILED TRAVEL ITINERARY
  10. ROUND-TRIP FLIGHT SCHEDULE
  11. HOTEL RESERVATION or DOCUMENTS RELATING TO THE RESIDENCE IN KOREA

Business visa application

  1. PASSPORT, valid at least six (6) months
  2. PREVIOUS PASSPORT, if applicable
  3. ONE PASSPORT-TYPE COLOR PHOTO (3.5cm x 4.5cm) with white background, taken within recent 6 months.
  4. WRITTEN CONSENT, form downloaded from the Embassy website
  5. NOTARIZED INVITATION LETTER from Korea stating that the inviter will take responsibility for any criminal activities committed by the invitee while in Korea and that the inviter will ensure the invitee returns to his or her country before the expiry of the visa (including copy of the business registration certificate, inviter’s ID card and contact number).
  6. PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT STATEMENT proving the applicant’s financial ability to support yourself for a stay (should be for a period of three(3) months & issued within a week)
  7. CERTIFICATE OF BUSINESS REGISTRATION and FORM A or COMPANY REGULATION of applicant’s company in Ghana, issued by Registrar General Department
  8. ANNUAL RENEWAL NOTICE OF REGISTRATION of the applicant’s company in Ghana, issued by Registrar General Department.
  9. TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE issued by Ghana Revenue Authority
  10. OTHER DOCUMENTS proving the purpose of visit e.g. bill of lading
  11. DETAILED BUSINESS PLAN, including RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS IN KOREA

Conference, Events visa application requirements

  1. PASSPORT, valid at least six (6) months
  2. PREVIOUS PASSPORT, if applicable
  3. ONE PASSPORT-TYPE COLOR PHOTO (3.5cm x 4.5cm) with white background, taken within recent 6 months
  4. 3 WRITTEN CONSENT, a form made out from the Embassy
  5. 4 OFFICIAL INVITATION LETTER issued by the organizers
  6. If it is self-sponsored,
  7. PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT STATEMENT proving the financial ability to support yourself for a stay (should be for a period of three(3) months & issued within a week)
  8. If sponsored by employer in Ghana,
  9. LETTER OF INTRODUCTION stating job title (designation), salary and purpose of trip. The employer (company) must fully be responsible to guarantee the return of the applicant to his/her country and be liable for applicant’s offence(s) against the law of the Republic of Korea (include contact number and ID card of employer)
  10. COMPANY BANK ACCOUNT STATEMENT (should be for a period of three(3) months & issued within a week)
  11. CERTIFICATE OF INCORPORATION
  12. If none of the above two cases,
  13. LETTER OF INTRODUCTION from where the applicant belongs to, stating the purpose of trip to be born fully by the organizer to guarantee the return of the applicant to Ghana and be liable for applicant’s offence(s) against the law of the Republic of Korea (include contact number and ID card of the guarantor)
  14. DOCUMENTS INTRODUCING THE NATURE,

Requirements for Sports event

  1. PASSPORT, valid at least six (6) months

  4. WRITTEN CONSENT, form downloaded from the Embassy website
  5. NOTARIZED INVITATION LETTER from Korea stating that the inviter will take responsibility for any criminal activities committed by the invitee while in Korea and that the inviter will ensure the invitee goes back to his or her country after the expiry of the visa (including copies of certificate of business registration and inviter’s ID card, contact number).
  6. NOTARIZED GUARANTEE LETTER USING THE EMBASSY FORM from the employer in Ghana (including a copy of guarantor’s ID card).
  7. INTRODUCTION LETTER from the employer in Ghana.
  8. PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT STATEMENT (should be for a period of three (3) months / should be issued within a week) proving the applicant’s financial ability to support yourself for a stay.
  9. If sponsored by Korean or employer in Ghana, present
  10. Sponsor’s salary slips of the past 6 months and bank account statement for a period of three (3) months.

  5. REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE OF THE KOREAN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
  6. CERTIFICATE OF ADMISSION issued by the Chancellor of the Korean University
  7. LASTEST ACADEMIC CERTIFICATES and SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghana.
  8. LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION, from the academic professor of the graduated school in Ghana (including contact number)
  9. PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT STATEMENT (should be for a period of three (3) months / should be issued within a week) proving the applicant’s financial ability to support yourself (tuition fee and finance for a stay)
  10. If sponsored by a university, present certificate of scholarship issued by the dean of a university
  11. If sponsored by a Korean academic professor, present notarized guarantee letter using the Embassy form with sponsor’s salary slip of the past 6 months and bank account statement for a period of three (3) months attached
  12. If sponsored by relatives, present bank account statement of relatives, and affidavit proving your family relations with a copy of ID card attached

When filling out the visa application form, write clearly and neatly. All the information must be provided including the email address to receive further information regarding your visa application.

Visa applicants are advised to arrange the required documents in the order of the following list and if it is submitted in improper order or any blank from the application is not filled, application shall not be accepted or may result in visa denial. Submitted documents will not be returned in any circumstances except for the passport and certificate.
