China has extended its visa-free transit policy to allow travelers to stay for up to 10 days, tripling the previous duration of 3 to 6 days.

This policy aims to attract more foreign tourists by simplifying travel requirements. This is to enable eligible visitors from over 50 countries, including the U.S., to explore popular destinations like Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou without needing a traditional visa, provided they have onward travel plans to a third country.

The move has significantly boosted tourism, with over 29 million foreign visitors entering China in 2024, a 123% increase in visa-free travelers. Shanghai is the most popular entry point, welcoming over 4 million visitors.

China has also enhanced convenience for tourists by enabling international credit card use on major e-payment apps like WeChat and AliPay, which include translation tools and easy verification.

However, regions like Tibet and Xinjiang still require additional permits. This policy, coupled with tourism-friendly measures, positions China as a top global destination.

By simplifying entry requirements and enhancing traveler convenience, the country is well-positioned to become a top destination for international visitors. Whether you’re exploring ancient wonders or diving into modern cities, the new policy ensures you’ll have time to savor every moment.
