Medewi is a black sand beach and lovely to walk along when the tide is low so you can get all the way along it (a river blocks part of the walkway when the tide gets higher).

The main activity in the area is fishing so you’ll see plenty of fishing boats either out at sea or on the sand post having gone out for the day. It’s not the type of beach I’d personally feel comfortable sunbathing on as it is still a very local area, rather than being packed full of tourists, and mostly Muslim.

Padang Padang Beach is one of Bali’s most famous surf spots. Locally known as Pantai Labuan Sait, this beach on the north-western coast of the island’s Bukit Peninsula has an exotic setting, a stunning 100 metre long stretch of sand that’s accessible down a flight of stairs and through a unique hollow rock entrance. This is the perfect beach for surfers and sunbathers who are looking for a complete break from the hustle and bustle of south Bali. Balian beach on the west coast of Bali is a 90 min drive from the airport and located right at the mouth of the Balian River.

Balian is a small village surrounded by rice fields. There were no visitors until surfers discovered the powerful swells and strong rip.

Suluban Beach extends right up to Uluwatu Beach where the mystical cave lies under. The saying Suluban taken from the Balinese vocabulary “mesulub”, means to bow down.
