Passengers traveling through the airports of the United States of America over weekend got stranded over delays and cancellations hitting the Aviation Industry due to a natural phenomenon.

People in America are facing many changes including air traveling challenges. Passengers who have bought tickets are unable to reach their planned destination due to operational challenges on the part of the airline companies.

As at 4:30pm ET Friday, an unexpected turbulence of thunderstorm hit the Northeast part of the United States of America. This phenomenon has caused a massive delay in many airports in the region. People had to wait an hour or more according to the Federation Aviation Administration’s flight delay map.

As many as 550 flights were delayed in the United States due to unwelcoming thunderstorms. This led to the cancellation of almost 6,500 airlines according to FlightAware. By 8:40pm, many passengers were stranded and stressed as a result of the operational challenges.

This weekend would have been the colossal air travel weekend for United States in many years. But due to the impending operational challenges, estimated targets will not be met. Delta Air Lines, leading airline in the industry was expecting large customer volumes since July 4, but the customer volume numbers were down because of the easily occurring natural disasters.

Delta Airlines, another force in the airline industry has issued a waiver for the weekend to assist all passengers to change their tickets for free because the airline companies may be facing operational challenges the coming weekend.

The FAA said on Friday morning announcing the emergence of another possible thunderstorm in areas such as the South, Southeast, Southwest, Northeast and Midwest. This emerging thunderstorm will also stampede the work of airlines and lead to flight being cancelled.

In addition, the FAA said, the weather could cause delays in Florida, New York and Washington, DC, as well as Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, IIinois, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Arizona.

Since the beginning of the year, United States airlines have cancelled 3.5% of flights which is up to 42% over the last year according to the Department of Transportation data. As at last weekend (June 24-26) most airlines about 2,200 flights in the United States were cancelled.
