What are the Indonesia travel restrictions?
As far as health is concern, there are still travel restrictions for foreign nationals entering the territory of the Republic. Those who are in the possession of a valid Indonesian residence permit or e-Visa are allowed to enter the country. Domestic and International travelers with visa are to meet the following health requirements.

Guests travelling must adhere to the followings:
- Guests must fill out an electronic health awareness card (e-HAC) in the Peduli Lindungi app prior to departure and ensure that their vaccination certificates and/or test results are already available in the app.
- Travelers under the age of 6 (six) years old are allowed to travel with an accompaniment who have fulfilled the vaccination or test requirement under strict health protocol.
- Travelers with special health conditions or comorbid diseases that cause travelers unable to receive vaccines must present a supporting letter regarding their conditions from a medical doctor at government hospital, and are required to present negative antigen test results taken maximum 1×24 hours or Covid-19 RT PCR test results taken maximum 3×24 hours prior to departure.
- Vaccination certificate of second or third dose taken at least 14 days prior to the applicant’s departure from their home country or country of residence.
- Health insurance covering covid-19 medical handling and evacuation to appointed hospitals for foreigners.

Visa on Arrival (VOA) for foreign travellers
The Indonesian Government has reopened its Visa on Arrival services for tourism or governmental visit, at the following entry points or major ports;

Eligible nationalities

Requirements
- Official national passport with a minimum validity of 6 months from the entry date
- Copy of a return ticket, or ticket continuing the journey to another country
- Show proof of being in the possession of health insurance that covers medical expenses and Covid-19 treatment.
- Documents required in accordance with the provisions of the Indonesian Health Protocol issued by the Covid-19 Task Force.
- In case of a governmental visit, the traveler must also attach an invitation letter regarding the attending of a meeting / conference issued by the Indonesian Ministry / Department / Institutions concerned
Visa Exemption (Free Visa for stay not more than 30 days)
The Indonesian Government has also reopened its Visa Exemption Services for tourism and governmental visit at the same entry points as mentioned above. The Visa Exemption is valid for a maximum of 30 days and cannot get extended nor converted into another type of stay permit.
Only the following nationalities are eligible for the Visa Exemption;
Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam
Requirements

Electronic Visa (eVisa) from the Directorate General of Immigration through Jakarta
If you are not eligible for a Visa on Arrival and/or have a visiting purpose matching the ones mentioned below, your Indonesian sponsor has to submit a visa application through the website of the Directorate General of Immigration – Jakarta, via: https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/.
Tourist visa applications must be submitted by an Indonesian visa/travel agent or hotel. An E-Visa will be issued for the following purposes:
1. Visit Visa (B211 – 60 days)
This visa is further categorized into sub-categories, depending on the purpose to which the applicant is traveling to Indonesia.
- B211A
This sub-category visa in the visit visa is for applicants traveling to for the following purpose;
- Tourism
- Medical assistance, food support, and humanitarian aid
- Business meeting at a head or representative office (not to supervise production activities of producers/sellers)
- Business discussion, negotiation, signing business contract (not to supervise production activities of producers/sellers)
- Purchase of goods (not to supervise production activities of producers/sellers)
- Governmental visit
- Visiting places or activities in the framework of official government duties related to the G20
- Crew member who joins the vessel in Indonesia
- Transit
- Participating in sport related activities at the invitation of the Indonesian government, international championships, or sport related activities by international sports organizations.
- B211B
This sub-category of the visit visa is also for applicants traveling for the following purposes;
- Probationary period for foreign workers
- Essential work/emergency: to carry out unplanned work that cannot be delegated or authorized to other people in the context of dealing with incidents caused by, natural disasters, main engine damage, or riots and are required to be handled immediately to avoid fatal losses for the company and/or the community in general.
B211C
This sub-category also applies to applicants in the following purposes;
- Journalism or making a movie
Additional information
- Single-Entry Visitor Visa (Index B211A, B211B, B211C) issued before 16 April 2022, can still be granted 4 time extension of the Stay Permit, until a maximum stay of 180 days.
- Single-Entry Visitor Visa (Index B211A, B211B, B211C) issued from 16 April 2022 valid for a maximum stay of 60 days, can be granted a 2 time Stay Permit extension (60 days/extension), until a maximum stay of 180 days.
- Single-Entry Visitor Visa (Index B211A, B211B, B211C) issued from 16 April 2022 valid for a maximum stay of 180 days cannot be granted extension of the Stay Permit
- The applicant must apply for the Stay Permit extension at the local immigration office and pay a fee of IDR 2.000.000.
- Foreigners or Sponsors can still apply for a Visitor Visa within the Indonesian Territory (onshore visa) through the Online Visa Approval application.
- Temporary stay visa (12 months)
A temporary stay visa will be granted to foreigners for a work activity and/or non-work activity. This visa can be converted into an Indonesian Temporary Residence Permit (KITAS).
This visa type is further categorized into the following;

Temporary stay visa for the work activity is granted to a foreign worker to stay in Indonesia in the class of;
- as a professional or expert
- Persons who joins to work on ships, on vessels, or installations operating in the Indonesian maritime zone, territorial sea, continental shelf, and Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone.
- Persons whose job is quality control of goods or products.
- Persons who conducts workplace inspections and audit.
- Persons whose work with an after sales service.
- Persons who installs and repairs machines;
- Persons with a non-permanent work in constructions;
- Persons with a probationary period for skilled works.
Temporary stay visa for the non-work activity is granted to a foreigner for:

- foreign investment (1 year);
- foreign investment (2 years);

- scientific training and research;

- study/attend education at an educational institution;

- reunification with Indonesian spouse;
- joining a foreign spouse who holds an Indonesian residence permit (KITAS/KITAP);
- children from a mixed marriage (foreigner-Indonesian) joining their parents;
- unmarried children under 18 from joining their foreign mother/father married to an Indonesian national;
- unmarried children under 18 joining their parents who hold an Indonesian residence permit (KITAS/KITAP);
- children who have a legal family relationship with the father/mother who has Indonesian nationality

- Repatriation for ex-Indonesian nationals who wish to live in Indonesia
Health protocol and quarantine regulations
International travellers arriving into the territory of the Republic of Indonesia must follow the following health protocols and quarantine regulations. The international traveller must:
Show proof of being in the possession of health/travel insurance that covers medical expenses and Covid-19 treatment while abroad.
Show proof/certificate of a full dose of COVID-19 vaccination (at least 2 vaccines, or 1 for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) minimum 14 days before the date of travel, e.g., stamp in the yellow vaccination book and print out the international QR code from the Corona Check website:
International travellers under 18 are not required to show Covid-19 vaccination proof
International travellers who cannot get vaccinated due to medical reasons, must show an official statement letter from their physician
International travellers having received a full dose of COVID-19 vaccination (at least 2 vaccines, or 1 for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) do not have to show a negative PCR test upon arrival anymore
International travellers that have been tested positive for Covid-19 (max. 30 days prior to departure) and are not contagious, do not have to show proof of a full dose Covid-19 vaccination or negative PCR test prior to departure, under the condition that they must undergo a PCR test upon arrival and attach an International Recovery Certificate or doctor’s certificate from their country of departure.
Register the vaccination received abroad through this website of the Indonesian Ministry of Health and upload this data in the Peduli Lindungi app. You will receive a QR Code which can be scanned, for example if you want to enter malls, restaurants and other public places.
Ground staff at the airport can also help to integrate the data in the Peduli Lindungi app.
Upon arrival International travellers are submitted to a health check.
Those who have received 2 and 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccines and have passed the health check are allowed to continue their travels
For those who have only received 1 dose of COVID-19 Vaccines, must undergo quarantine for 5 days at their own expense
If the traveller has Covid related symptoms and/or their body temperature is higher than 37,5 degrees during the health check, they must retake a PCR test at the airport and wait for their result. After receiving a negative PCR test result the traveller is allowed to continue their activities. If the PCR test is positive, travellers with mild or no symptoms have to quarantine for 5 days in their accommodation
To those who undergo the 5 days quarantine, travelers must retake another PCR test on the fourth day.
International travelers under 18 follow the provisions applied to their parents/caregiver or travel companion.
KITAS/KITAP Extension
Bearers of an Indonesian Residence Permit (KITAS / KITAP) which has expired while abroad can submit an extension request through their Indonesian sponsor at the immigration office that issued the document for you. Another possibility for the sponsor is to submit an online request for extension through the website of the Directorate General of Immigration – Jakarta, via: https://izintinggal-online.imigrasi.go.id/
