As of who does it best in the West African sub region, it has become the bone of contention between Ghana and Nigeria. To settle this battle for supremacy in the cooking of the delicious delicacy, you should try jollof rice when you are in Ghana or Nigeria to judge who does it better.

Jollof Rice is served with meat, fish or eggs with salad embellishing the delicacy.

Aboakyer Festival – Live Deer Hunting Festival

On every first Saturday in the month of May the people of Winneba in the Central Region of Ghana celebrates the Aboakyer festival in hunt for a live deer.

Tourists can join the search for the live deer by joining the two Asafo groups to the forest for adventure. The group that arrives first at the durbar grounds with live deer takes a prize and the merry making part is climaxed.

The celebration of the festival is in commemoration of their ancient migration to their present home when they had to make human sacrifices to the gods and as a replacement, a live deer offered for the sacrifice.

Kente: How The Fabric Came About?

Kente is a special cloth from Ghana wove in beautiful colorful pattern strips. The weaving of the special fabric is done by the bare hands in the wooden structure known as the loom. The weaving is done in strips and later joined together as a cloth.

The special cloth which has been well embraced around the world especially among African diaspora are worn during special occasions like engagements, graduations, ceremonies etc which was previously seen worn by traditional leaders.
